Book Editing for Novelists, Non-Fiction Authors and Indie Publishers

Developmental, line and copy edits by UK editors with trade publishing experience. Real human attention — never AI rewriting.

100% human editing UK-qualified editors Signed certificate

A book deserves an editor who reads it as a reader would — chapter by chapter, voice by voice — and brings the eye of a trade publisher to its pages. Our book editing service is led by editors who have worked at Penguin Random House, Cambridge University Press and Routledge, and who understand both literary craft and commercial structure.

We work with novelists, memoirists, non-fiction authors and indie publishers across fiction and non-fiction genres. Whether you need a developmental edit to shape your manuscript or a copy edit to polish it for publication, you are matched to an editor with relevant experience.

Three levels of book editing

We offer three distinct levels of edit. Choose the one that matches where your manuscript is in its life:

  • Developmental edit — structure, pacing, character, argument, scene logic. A long editorial letter plus margin comments.
  • Line edit — sentence-level craft. Voice, rhythm, dialogue, prose texture. Tracked changes plus a short report.
  • Copy edit — grammar, punctuation, consistency, fact-light checking, style sheet creation. Tracked changes plus a clean copy.

Fiction and non-fiction

For fiction, our editors look at character arc, scene-and-sequel structure, point-of-view discipline, dialogue authenticity and prose voice. For non-fiction, they look at argument flow, evidence handling, chapter signposting, reader takeaways and source consistency.

We do not impose a house style on your manuscript. We build a style sheet that reflects your decisions and apply it consistently throughout — so a series stays internally coherent and an indie release reads like it came out of a major imprint.

Authors who self-publish and submit to agents

If you plan to self-publish, our copy edit gives you a manuscript that holds up next to traditionally published peers. If you plan to submit to agents, our developmental or line edit makes sure your opening chapters do the work they need to do in a slush pile.
